The Kuwait Court of First Instance (Commercial Division) has ruled in favor of Attorney Mohammad Safar, ordering a commercial airline to pay KD470 as compensation for a significant flight delay that disrupted his professional obligations.

According to the details shared by Safar, his flight from Cairo to Kuwait was originally scheduled to depart at 8:05 pm on June 30, 2024, and arrive at 11:05 pm. However, the flight was unexpectedly delayed by more than five hours, eventually departing at 1:45 am on July 1, 2024. Safar emphasized that he received no prior notification from the airline regarding the delay.

Loss of Client Meetings and Legal Obligations

The delay caused the cancellation of critical client appointments, affecting his professional responsibilities. As a result, Safar filed a lawsuit demanding KD5,001 as compensation for both material and moral damages caused by the delay.

After reviewing the case, the court determined that the airline failed to fulfill its duty to inform the passenger of the delay in a timely manner, thereby confirming full responsibility lies with the airline. The court ultimately ruled in favor of Safar and ordered the airline to pay KD470.
