Prominent Business personality and Kuwait's chain of supermarket, Gulfmart's Country head Mr. TA Remesh and Mr. Sageer Trikarpur Chairman of Kuwait's largest social welfare association of Indian nationals received the prestigious Garshom Award.Mrs. Najma Heptulla, the Former Rajya Sabha Chairperson presented the award to Mr. TA Remesh and Sageer Thrikkarippur in a glittering function held at Salmiya Indian community school, Salmiya.
Indian Embassy Charge D affairs Mr Vidhu P Nair, Samajwadi party national general secretary Rajeev Kumar Rai and Ivan Nigli ex. MLA Karnataka were the chief Gust for the day. Dr. Sunitha Krishnan- Hyderabad, Mr. V C Praveen- Chennai, Mr. S. Ahmed- Trivandrum and All Malaysia Malayalee Association also received the award yesterday.

Garshom Award has been instituted by Bangalore based garshom Infomedia for NRIs settled abroad and those who have returned to the country. The award committee constitutes Mr. Ivan Nigli (Former Karnataka MLA), Dr. B. Ashok Kumar (Muscat), Mr. Polly Mathew Somatheeram (Germany) and Mr. Jins Paul (Managing Editor, Garshom Infomedia Limited).

Mr. Sageer Trikarpur from Kuwait, Dr. Sunitha Krishnan from Hyderabad and Mr. V C Praveen from Chennai were awarded Garshom Pravasi Ratna, Garshom Pravasi Vanitha and Gashom Yuva Pravasi awards respectively. Mr. S. Ahmed from Trivandrum received Garshom Pravasi Returnee award. Gulfmart's country head Mr. Remesh T A was selected for Garshom Special Award. AMMA (All Malaysia Malayalee Association) from Malaysia won the best Pravasi Organization of the year 2010. This is the first time, Garshom is conducting this international award nite at Kuwait.
In her speech, MS Najma Heptulla opined that the Indians are very active all over the world. "I am happy to know that Mr TA Remesh is holding a very successful post among the Kuwait Business community. It’s highly appreciable that he employs large number of Indians in this country" Said Ms Najma Heptulla.
It was the excellence in his work area of being at the top management of Gulfmart, Kuwait's chain of supermarkets that caters to the Indian community that won Mr T A Remesh a special award from the jury of Garshom Awards 2010. Being the Country Manager of Gulfmart, Mr. Remesh has been the leading force in spreading the reach of Gulfmart throughout Kuwait and this managerial excellence has been appreciated by the Indian community in Kuwait. Mr Remesh thanked the whole Indian Community in Kuwait for getting this prestigious award.
Mr. Sageer Trikarpur's tireless work towards ensuring social security and upliftment of the Malayalees in Kuwait combined with his contribution in his social responsibility by supporting the economically weaker sections in Kerala was what lead him to be selected the Garshom Pravasi Ratna 2010. Mr. Sageer is the founder of Kuwait Muslim Association which is the largest social welfare organization among the Indian community in Kuwait. "It’s each individual's responsibility to share our time for the upliftment of the society" Mr Sageer said while receiving the award.
Prominent members among the community attended the function. Special melodious musical evening was also organized as a part of the Garshom Award presentation ceremony. Organizing committee chairman Jacob Channapetta presided over the function.
