M.Sc in Forensic Odontology
Kochi: Institute of Forensic Science, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Sector-9, Near Directorate of Forensic Sciences, Gandhinagar-382007, has invited applications for admission to M.Sc. Forensic Odontology course of 2 years duration. The Programme is approved by Dept. of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Gujarat & State Dental Council.
Eligibility
Applicant should hold a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from any Institution recognized by the Dental Council of India. There are 35 seats of which 30 are General and 5 are for NRI.
Admissions will be based on the merits obtained in the Qualifying degree. Students who have obtained BDS degree from the Government run Universities of Gujarat, Students obtained degree from the private/ deemed universities of Gujarat state, Students who have obtained the qualifying degree from the universities of other states in India and finally students who obtained degree from Foreign universities those are recognized by the Dental Council of India, in that order, will get priority in the selection process.
Seats are reserved for candidates who are origin of Gujarat and falling under the following categories.
(i) Scheduled Caste : 7%
(ii) Scheduled Tribe :15%
(iii) Socially and Educationally Backward Class (OBC/SEBC): 27%
A candidate seeking admission on reserved seat shall be required to produce a Certificate of Caste from which he originates. A candidate belonging to socially and Educationally Backward Class shall be required to produce a certificate to the effect of non-inclusion in Creamy Layer in addition to the caste certificate. After granting admission to all the students of reserved categories on reserved seats, the reserved category seats remaining vacant shall be transferred to the unreserved category seats.
A limited number of seats will be offered through a separate channel called ‘direct admission of Foreign and NRI students (Non Resident Indians)’. In case, such candidates are not available, the vacant seats will be allotted to the interested candidates coming through entrance test on merit basis with equivalent NRI fee structure.
Fees Structure: Semester Tuition fee: Rs.40, 000/- per semester + Other University fees
Semester Tuition Fees for NRI candidates: Rs.80,000/- or equivalent US $ (excluding bank charges) + Other University fees.
Semester Tuition Fees in case of vacant NRI seats: Rs. 80,000/- or equivalent to US $ + Other University fees.

Application forms and other details are available at https://www.gfsu.edu.in. Filled application should be submitted along with a Demand Draft of Rs.1200/- in favor of ‘The Registrar, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University’, payable at Gandhinagar. Applicant should write his/her complete name on the backside of the Demand Draft. The following documents, attested by Gazetted government officer/self-attested, should be attached with application form.
(i) Graduation mark sheets (for entire course)
(ii) State Dental Council registration certificate
(iii) Proof of age (School leaving, class 10th provisional certificate)
(iv) Caste certificate (In case of SEBC/SC/ST)
(v) Certificate for non-inclusion in Creamy Layer of current year (In case of SEBC)
Duly filled in application form along with Demand Draft can be submitted either in person or by registered post or by courier in a sealed envelope marked as ‘M. Sc. Forensic Odontology -2015’ on the left hand side top corner, to ‘Registrar Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Sector-9, Near DFS Headquarters Gandhinagar-382007’, to reach latest by 20th November, 2015. The session commences on 1st December, 2015.
