SUNSHINE SPLASH 2025: A SUMMER TO REMEMBER
SUNSHINE SPLASH 2025: A SUMMER TO REMEMBER
The Indian Community School Kuwait (ICSK) concluded the first chapter of its annual summer initiative, Sunshine Splash 2025, on July 3, marking a month-long journey of discovery, creativity, and character-building for students across all age groups.
Camp 1, which commenced on June 4, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over a hundred students, divided into three age-specific categories—Sunny Smiles, Dreamers, and Dazzlers. The camp was conceptualised and held under the aegis of Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator, and was well coordinated by Dr. Mary Issac, Vice Principal of ICSK Amman and Chief Coordinator of Sunshine Splash 2025. The initiative was steered by a dedicated team of trained educators who ensured an enriching and enjoyable experience for all.
True to its vision of blending recreation with purposeful learning, the camp offered a diverse set of activities that inspired curiosity, built confidence, and fostered a strong sense of camaraderie. Among the many highlights were thoughtfully designed sessions on energy conservation and power-saving, nurturing early environmental responsibility in young learners.
Cognitive engagement was a cornerstone of the camp, with focused sessions on public speaking and quizzes drawing enthusiastic participation and helping students build eloquence and general awareness. Intellectual challenges such as Sudoku, Abacus, Rubik’s Cube solving, and Vedic Math added further depth to the programme, sharpening critical thinking and problem-solving skills in an interactive setting.
The camp also placed strong emphasis on art and craft sessions, where children explored creative expression through diverse mediums. In the realm of performing arts, students enjoyed music, dance, yoga and Zumba sessions, turning every day into a celebration of rhythm and joy.
Physical activity remained an integral part of the daily routine, with structured sessions in swimming, indoor and outdoor games like Kabaddi, Basketball, Volleyball, and others promoting health, discipline, and teamwork. Additionally, martial arts training in Kalaripayattu, led by KMS Kalari Academy Kuwait, brought alive the richness of Indian martial heritage.
Another standout feature of Camp 1 was the inclusion of three fun-filled, knowledge-based picnics, blending leisure with learning. These excursions provided meaningful opportunities for real-world engagement beyond the classroom.
Upholding ICSK’s core values, students also took part in life skill sessions centred on leadership, empathy, and social responsibility—principles aimed at shaping conscientious citizens of tomorrow. A dedicated life skill session on emergency care, first aid, and road safety awareness was conducted by Dr. Fatima Shamsuddin, Senior Registrar at Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Hospital, equipping students with vital real-world knowledge.
The camp culminated on July 3 with an emotional and vibrant closing ceremony, showcasing the talents and confidence of the campers. Students from all categories performed expressive dances and presented glimpses of their journey, while anchoring the event with poise and clarity. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Thomas Thomas, former President of the Indian Dentists’ Alliance Kuwait, who mentioned the school’s unwavering focus on activity-centric learning and the impressive growth displayed by the children.
Participation certificates were distributed, filling the room with a sense of celebration and collective achievement. The closing ceremony also marked the formal curtain raiser for Camp 2, which commenced on July 5, ushering in a new phase of summer learning and fun.
The success of Camp 1 was made possible through the concerted efforts of the ICSK management, the tireless dedication of teachers, the spirited involvement of students, and the wholehearted support of parents. As the curtains fell on this memorable chapter, Sunshine Splash 2025 left behind a trail of joyful memories, meaningful experiences, and friendships that are bound to endure well beyond the summer.
