FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATION AT GIS
Gulf Indian School marked its 23rd Foundation Day Celebrations most exultantly on 27th Oct, 2016.
The proceedings of the day commenced on a spiritual note with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The privilege to address the august gathering was vested on the Head Girl, Julia Pius. The Principal, Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran addressed the audience and introduced the Chief Guest. The slide show GIST 2015-2016 gave a quick recap of the achievements and activities of the year. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Honorable Chairman and owner of the school, Mr. Ghazi Faizal Al Dabbous. The presence of Principals and Vice Principals of various other schools, parents and well-wishers further illuminated the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Marrius Visser, Principal, Future Bilingual School (Boys) delivered an enlightening speech on the impact of the fast moving technology in the current times. He urged the youth to follow their passion. He was all praise for the school and its students for upholding the heritage of India. He ended his speech reminding the students not to give up when they face challenges in life. In fact the true essence of a person comes to life only when he / she goes through ‘tests and trials’.
Scholarships, certificates and medals were given to the meritorious students for their scholastic and co-scholastic achievements by the Chairman and the Chief Guest.
The talented young artists of the school left the audience spellbound. Tandav, a dance depicting the fury of the divine and the “Veer dance” made the audience glued on to their seats. ‘Maa ki Pukaar’, a dance depicting the heart-wrenching plight of the mothers of the soldiers instilled a sense of compassion and empathy in the audience. Shakuntalam, the musical drama marked a lasting impression on the audience. The school orchestra raised the audience to the sublime heights of music. The ‘All Girlz’ band took the stage by storm.
The portrayal of Navras, the nine emotions through various dances, music and dance drama made the evening a memorable one.
The programme concluded with the ‘Vote of Thanks’ by the School Head Boy, Kevin Zachariah.
