Swearing in of the School Cabinet at IISM

“Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life”. To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of functioning of the administrative body, a school cabinet was formed at India International School, Mangaf through an election procedure in a democratic way on 19 April 2016. Master Moosa Kazi of XII B and Ms. Sadaf Mariyam of XII A were elected as the Head Boy and the Head Girl for the academic year 2016-17.

The School kick started its glorious vistas of events for the year with the Investiture Ceremony on 30 April 2016 in the august presence of the school’s Chairman Dr. PA Ibrahim and the Director, Mr. Malayil Moosa Koya. The Chief Guest, Dr. PA Ibrahim was given a warm red carpet welcome by the dignitaries of the school. The program started in a traditional way by invoking the blessings of the Almighty with the recitation of the Holy Quran.

 A profound welcome note was delivered by the Principal Mr. FM Basheer Ahmed, enlisting the glorious achievements of the Chief Guest as a charismatic leader, an educational visionary, and an entrepreneur. His immense contributions for the welfare of the society have brought him international fame and it was appreciated with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Phd) award by American Global International University, Florida and a prestigious position as a governing body member at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The Chairman was greeted with a floral bouquet presented by the school’s ex-Head Girl Ms.Khadeeja Raeda.

The administrative responsibility of the school cabinet for the academic year 2016-17 was officially handed over by presenting the school flag to the Head Boy and the Head Girl by the CCA in charge, Mrs. Feroza Sultana. It was followed by the much awaited crowning of the cabinet by presenting their position badges. It was a spectacular sight watching the Chief Guest, the dignitaries and the House Masters and Mistresses conferring badges to all the Council Members, House Captains and Prefects. This was followed by the momentous Oath Taking Ceremony. The Student Council Members, the House Captains and the Prefects of all the four houses- Shanthiniketan, Sarabhai, Nalanda and Homibhaba were sworn in by the Principal. This eventful ceremony was suitably followed by the power packed speech given the Head Boy and the Head Girl. CBSE toppers of Class X and XII examinations were honoured by the Chairman along with the academic achievers from classes VI-XI and the staff members who secured cent percent attendance. Arsh Mukadam of XII B, the winner of Wild Life Photography Competition conducted by FAIPS Kuwait on 29 April 2016 also was honored on the dais amidst loud round of applause.

In his address, the Chief Guest Dr. PA Ibrahim, appreciated the efforts taken by the school for providing such opportunities and responsibilities to the students. He also congratulated the newly appointed school cabinet members for their readiness to take responsibilities. He made a special mention about the staff members who were honoured for their full attendance. A special memento was presented to the Chairman by the Director as a token of love and gratitude.

The next segment of the event was a hair raising patriotic fusion song performance by the school choir. The programme came to a solemn close with vote of thanks proposed by the CCA Secretary, Ms. Sidra Abdurahim followed by refreshments and the photo session.As they went home, the students, parents and teachers cherished the valuable words of Dr. PA Ibrahim; “With desire, we achieve nothing, with decision we achieve something and with determination we achieve everything”. There is no doubt that these prized words have ignited the fire of determination in the young minds of IISians as these were the true words from a man who conquered the world with his determination.
