ICSK JUNIOR CELEBRATES TEACHERS’ DAY

‘Good teacher is like a candle; it consumes itself to light the way for others’

 The Indian Community School Kuwait, Junior, celebratedTeachers’ Day through special assemblies held in the second week of September 2015. Teachers’ Day is celebrated in India on 5^th September every year to remember Dr. Sarvepalli  Radhakrishnan, the second President of Independent India, a zealous advocate of education, a great scholar and a teacher.

The assemblies were overwhelming as children rendered beautiful songs and a poem as an ode to their teachers. A tableau depicting the pioneers in the field of education, dance, music and sports field was portrayed with splendour and gaiety cherishing the glorious culture of India. A melodious song echoing the theme of the event was rendered by the school choir. The visual delight of the special assembly was a rhythmic group dance.The students presented their teachers withcreative and attractive Teachers' Day greeting cards adorned with captivating and touchy quotes and messages. Principal in-charge Mrs. Sherly Dennis, in her inspirational address, explained to the students that 5^th September is celebrated every year as Teachers’ Day as a mark of respect to the second President of Independent India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. She said that teaching is not a job or a profession but a sacred mission with a purpose and the teacher community metaphorically is a storage tank and students are the recipient of knowledge from the tap. She further said that in addition to imparting academic knowledge to students, a teacher acts as a catalyst for social change and is a person who instills values in them and moulds the character of students. Every student in the assembly was spellbound with a positive impact of her message.

 

The assemblies provided a wonderful opportunity for the students to express their gratitude and appreciation to teachers.
