Kuwaitization Policy Targets The Insurance Sector

In the insurance sector, the government aims to replace expatriates with Kuwaitis after achieving almost 80 percent Kuwaitization in the banking and communications sectors.

Approximately 3,000 Kuwaitis will be employed in the insurance industry over the next two years as the government replaces foreign workers. Commerce and Industry ministry and insurance companies union discussed the increase in Kuwaitis' employment in the insurance sector. As a result of the small number of Kuwaiti employees, the ministry expressed disappointment. According to the report, the Kuwaitis must be qualified for the jobs in order for the union to approve the decision.

Kuwait currently has more than two million Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis working in the public and private sectors - with 33 percent of these employed by the government.
