Did you ever experience strange changes happening to your body and you just have no real or good justification for such feelings? Don't worry your body is not a magical one and no spell fell on it. Your body has a real and scientific reason behind such bizarre acts or feelings. So let’s have a look at the most freaky things you don't know about your body.
Visualizing strange objects:
Sometimes when we stare for a long time at any object; you start seeing small lines and objects moving and floating around; don't worry you are not one of “The Incredibles” ..You just experienced a completely normal phenomenon.
Scientific reason:
It happens because your eyes are mostly made up of a jelly called vitreous fluid, and this gel undergoes many changes as you age. The older you get, the more this vitreous becomes liquidy. So when you stare for a long time, they start floating and combining together to form this kind of “strands” you see. However, they eventually sink down at the bottom of your eyes after sometime and that’s when you stop seeing those “lines”.
Ice cream causes "Brain Freeze":
Anyone who enjoys eating ice cream and cold treats will know what it’s like to experience a brain freeze. If you eat ice cream even if it’s just a small amount, and chug it quickly, and you will feel that your brain hurts; as if someone hit you with a hammer. No, don't worry no one did. This “Brain freeze" status has a real reason behind it.
Scientific reason:
The brain wants to keep a constant temperature, so when you're stuffing your face with ice cream, your palate gets chilled and your brain freaks out, thinking you are trapped in The Alps. So the brain gives signals to your arteries to pump more blood and so this sudden increase in your blood pressure causes that kind of headache you may feel.
Sunburns hurt. But do you know why?
We all love the sun, but why do sunburns hurt the skin so much?
Scientific reason:
Sunburn is a direct way of damaging your DNA; so your body starts fighting that kind of radiation that attacks your body suddenly (sun rays). Therefore, your body starts by increasing your blood flow in order to repair and heal all your body tumors hence the redness and inflammation. So be careful when you’re out in the sun next time and make sure you wear protection.
