M.R. Venkatesh is a Chartered Accountant who addresses the Business concerns relating to Economic Policies, International trade and Business strategies. He is one of India’s highly ranked corporate advisor who is known for conjuring unconventional management solutions to highly complex problems.

 

M. R. Venkatesh enjoyed an extraordinary academic career. He carried out his early schooling in Calcutta. He completed his graduation with the Madras University in 1988 with a high first class. He passed Chartered Accountancy in 1992 with an all India Ranking and has been in active practice since 1993 as partner of GSV Associates, Chartered Accountants, Chennai. He is also a graduate member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. 

Currently he has been successful in unifying several spinning companies in Tamil Nadu by aggregating several fragmented players into one unit and thereby eliminating unwanted competition amongst players. Further, he has been instrumental in designing a multi-modal logistic company for shipping such bulk cargo to Tamil Nadu. This is expected to usher in significant savings and revolutionize cotton purchases in the whole of India.  

M R Venkatesh has been involved with several corporate restructuring exercises which have been hailed as extraordinary financial innovations. One of the schemes of arrangement drawn by his is now under the active scrutiny of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India which is presumed to settle the law on the matter in India.

 

As an expert on WTO related issues in South India, he has represented Indian corporates at the international forums. He has also represented his clients before the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), its appellate body – the Securities Appellate Tribunal and the RBI Tribunal besides before various Income Tax authorities. An arbitrator par excellence he has also been involved in settling several disputes, provide arbitration while resolve differences amongst people.  

M. R. Venkatesh is also a commentator on International Trade and Economic Affairs. He is a prolific writer and is a regular columnist with the Rediff.com. His columns are well received by readers and is keenly watched for conveying complex ideas in simple language. He has written over 400 articles in various prestigious publications on matters relating to Income-tax, Indian economy, US economy, European economy, Globalization and other related subject.

 

M R Venkatesh is also a regular panelist in several of India’s leading news channels including the NDTV Profit, Times Now and several Hindi and Tamil channels. His ability to converse with viewers on several complex political and economic subjects with elan has earned him instant acclaim all over India.

 

M. R. Venkatesh is also a prolific writer. He has authored A Handbook on Anti-dumping, which was released by the former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2001. He has authored a monograph on Capital Account Convertibility, which was published in July 2006 as well as one on inflation, which was published in 2007.

M. R. Venkatesh foresaw the oncoming US financial crisis in 2007. In this connection he has authored a book titled Global Imbalances and the impending Dollar crisis, which was published in September 2007 in Chennai. Importantly, his speech on this subject titled – Global Imbalances and the impending dollar crisis for approximately 56 minutes in the youtube has a wide viewership and is conservatively estimated to have over 2 million hits. 

 

M. R. Venkatesh has also authored a detailed report on the farm sector in India in the context of ongoing Doha Round of negotiations and the aegis of WTO.  This report was in fact submitted to the Government of India and formed the basis of the Fertilizer policy of the Union Government in 2003.

 

M R Venkatesh is a visiting faculty in various professional institutions, Chambers of Commerce and Universities. He has been invited by several branches of the ICAI, Indian Institute of Management Indore, Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, several management institutes and engineering colleges viz., Shastra University, IIPM, SRM University, Loyola College, Vivekananda College, Meenakshi College as well as Chambers of commerce including Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, FICCI, CII and Tamil Chamber of Commerce.

 

M. R. Venkatesh has authored a book titled "Sense, Sensex and Sentiments – Failure of India’s Financial Sentinels" in 2010. In a riveting account on Corruption, Money laundering and Tax Havens, he joins the dots in the Indian economy which to this date were spoken but never documented. This book has received rave reviews by several experts across the country.
