The much awaited Tulu Koota Kuwait competition was held in Indian Community School, Salmiya, on 14 th October 2011 from 11.00 a.m. onwards. The day commenced with the lighting of lamp by the Managing Committee and the Advisory Committee members followed by prayer by Prakash Shetty & Santhosh Kunder and welcome speech by TKK President Mrs. Swarna Shetty.

A vast gathering of enthusiastic children & their parents were present who were eagerly awaiting the start of the competitions. The competitions began with the “Color Me” Contest for kids in the age group of 4-6, followed by “I am the Best” for the kids in the age group of 2-4, and “Bangar Balelu Photo Show” for the little ones. The age group of 4-6 gave some interesting descriptions on “Enna Ajji” and kids from 6-9 years described “Enna Uru” with flair. 

The ladies too participated in the competitions like “Garland Making” & “Bale Musumbi Thinka” with equal gusto. The most fascinating competitions which was enjoyed by one and all was “Seereda Porlu” in which men tried draping sarees to perfection and also the “Coconut Grating” competition, which was followed by a scrumptious lunch by Oriental Restaurant.

The “Solo Fancy Dress” competition for age groups of 9-12, 12-17 & above 17 was followed by “Group Fancy Dress” competition which was open to all. “Porluda Radd Patera” & “Comedy Circus” was enjoyed by the audience to the fullest. The “Non Classical Solo Dances” of various age groups were a treat to watch.

The audience had a wonderful time during the competitions. The Comperes for the day were Mr.Sachidananda Suvarna, Mrs.Sushma Manoj & Mr Ramesh Bhandary. The Competition Coordinator was Mrs. Kavitha Kidiyoor, and the Competition team comprised of Mrs. Gita Suvarna, Mrs. Jaya V. Karkal, Mrs. Suma Bhat, Mrs. Rekha Sachu, Mrs.Vidya Vittal, Mr. Sathyanarayan & Mr. Suresh Salian. The different competitions were well coordinated by committee members.

The Judges for the various competitions were Mrs. Branca Verma, Mrs. Preeti Shah, Mrs.Githa Ajit Nair, Mrs. Doris Veena Lobo, Mrs. Rashmi Prem Kumar, Mr. Pushparaj Hegde, Mr. Sharfuddin BS, Mr. Tharendra Shettigar, Mr. Steadison Charley, Mr. Vicky Tanaji, Mrs. Shalini Alva & Mr. Stephan Machado

A special thanks goes out to the Indian Community School and also to the Volunteers who did a commendable job at the event.
