Joseph Panicker, honoured with “Bharat Gaurav Award”

 

Joseph Panicker, FIE, B.E (Elec.), P. Eng. (India),Consultant Engineer (KSE), Member IEEE(USA), Member Bahrain Society of Engineers was honoured with “ Bharat Gaurav Award 2011 ” for ‘Meritorious Services, Outstanding Performance and Remarkable Role’. The award was presented jointly by Shri. Pavan Kumar Bansal, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs & Water Resources, Government of India with Dr. Bhishma Narain Singh former Union Minister and Governor Tamilnadu, on the occasion of National seminar on ‘ Global Participation in India’s Economic Development ’ held on 6th January, 2011 at Hotel Meridian, New Delhi to mark Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for the year 2011, conducted by India International Friendship Society (IIFS).

The award giving function was graced by dignitaries Rt. Hon’ble Barness Sandeep Varma(Minister in Waiting Govt. Of U.K), Ms. Ruby Dhalla (member of Parliament from Canada, Sardar Joginder Singh Chairman IIFS& Former CBI Director), Mr. Rohit Kochhar (Chairman and MD Kochhar &Co).

Mr. Joseph Panicker, twice the Chairman of Institution of Engineers India, Kuwait Chapter (2007-08), (2009-10), has supported the advancement of engineering knowledge to Engineers. During his tenure Ladies Wing, IEI Green Club and Library service were formed and IEI Science Club was vitalized with a vision of sharing knowledge of Science among Engineers and their families.

In association with Volunteer Work Center (VWC) he took active role in planting trees in the Kuwait desert to protect the environment.

He is a volunteer with many Kuwaity organizations such as Al-Yaal, En.V, Kuwait Change, and Re Use etc. and regularly participates in Kuwait Beach Cleaning Campaign.

He was a member of Kuwait Environmental Protection Society and Front Liners (a service organization) during 2003-2010. He is the sponsor for Capitol Toast Masters Club (communication and leadership programme) in Kuwait City. In 1990 he had actively contributed to the development of India’s first Battery Operated Eco-friendly Car named Eddy.

Joseph, son of Sri A.G.Mathews Panicker and Mariamma, who has hailed from an ancient family named as 'Adangapurathu' in Kerala – India, did his Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology. He came to Kuwait in 1982, married to Elizabeth and is blessed with two children Miriam and Andrew. Currently he is working with Pan Arab Consulting Engineers, Kuwait.
