"Rhythmic Resonance": A Celebration of Poetic Expression at ICSK Junior

The Indian Community School Kuwait (ICSK) Junior Branch successfully hosted the Fourth Annual Inter-Branch English Poetry Recitation Competition, titled “Rhythmic Resonance,” on October 9th, 2025. This highly anticipated academic event brought together 24 budding talents from ICSK-Amman, ICSK-Khaitan, ISEK, and ICSK-Junior to celebrate and showcase the enduring beauty and performative power of English poetry. The competition aimed to go beyond mere memorization, focusing instead on developing strong oral communication skills, promoting a deep appreciation for literature, and encouraging imaginative self-expression among junior students. The atmosphere was charged with literary enthusiasm, setting a high standard for artistic and academic pursuit.
The audience was graciously welcomed by Vice Principal Mrs. Santhi Krishna. In her address, she created a warm environment to make the participants feel comfortable and acknowledged the presence of Principal Mrs. Sheeja, along with the panel of judges, mentors, and teachers.
The program was thoughtfully structured to include a moment of grace, led by Aaiysha, followed by a soulful inspirational song performed by the student choir.
The participants were divided in three distinct categories based on grade level: Category 1 (Grade 1), Category 2 (Grade 2), and Category 3 (Grade 3), with each category featuring eight contestants. The rules were clearly articulated to ensure a fair and streamlined process, emphasizing a mandatory recitation time limit of three minutes and a strict protocol against revealing school or personal identities. The judging criteria were academically rigorous, focusing on five key elements: Memorization and Fluency, Description of the Poem and the Poet, Expressions and Emotions, Pronunciation and Clarity, and Voice Articulation. These parameters ensured that judging assessed both the technical delivery and the intellectual depth of each performance.
The recitations showcased the students’ exceptional preparation, confidence, and ability to bring poetic verses to life. Each participant delivered their chosen poem with remarkable expression and clarity, demonstrating the transformative power of rhythm and emotion in words. Following this impressive display of talent, the event moved to the climactic moment: the announcement of the results. Principal - Mrs. C. Sheeja, graced the event to award the prizes, a powerful symbol of the institution's dedication to nurturing excellence. She offered heartfelt congratulations to all the victors, while gently encouraging those who didn't secure a win this time to persevere. Her presence emphasized the school's belief that while winning is commendable, the act of courageous participation is invaluable for character development and growth.
The Fourth Annual interbranch poetry competition Rhythmic Resonance concluded on a high note, with Academic Coordinator Mrs. Lubna Lodhi delivering the Vote of Thanks. She extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their collective effort in making the event successful. This inter-branch competition not only provided a platform for promoting young talent but also reinforced ICSK's position as a premier educational institution that champions literary appreciation and superior communication skills in its students, assuring a bright future for these eloquent young minds.
