of Indian Learners Own Academy Seminar on Youth Empowerment by Brigadier Sushil Bhasin

The academic year 2014-15 of Indian Learners Own Academy had a grand opening with the seminar on Youth Empowerment, conducted by Brigadier Sushil Bhasin – an educationist of great repute. It was organized under the auspices of the Indian Frontliners, a leading organization which contributes to the welfare of society in various ways.
The seminar was held in the school auditorium on 20th May 2014 (Tuesday) and was addressed to the students of classes VII-XI. It was a great delight for students to attend this seminar. The Literary Secretary Karan Sanal, of Class-IX introduced the Chief Guest and the Principal Mrs. Asha Sharma honored him with a gift and a bouquet. Mr. Sushil Bhasin has served in the army for 37 years and after retirement. He shifted his focus to his old dream of making a difference to others lives, when he had an inner call.
Mr. Sushil Bhasin is an eloquent orator. He introduced the students to a game in which each one of them were asked to participate. They had to pass juggling rings to one another without it touching the ground and without using our thumbs. They were divided into groups according to our houses {i.e. Earth, Fire, Air, Water and Space}. The idea behind this activity was to apprise students with the fact that we often underestimate ourselves and with practice and precision anything can be achieved.
Students were also made aware of a new acronym-IALAC i.e. I AM LOVEABLE AND CAPABLE that helped students to accept and appreciate themselves. All the students enjoyed the session a lot and they even learnt a few skills of life, like working in a team with a healthy team spirit, developing positive thinking, and managing time adequately, accepting ourselves as we are and others too, learning from their past experiences etc.
At the end of the session Mr. Sushil Bhasin asked each student to give a feedback of the seminar on a sheet of paper. Finally, the cultural sectary Meenakshi Sreekumar of Class-IX expressed her gratitude towards the Chief Guest Brigadier Sushil Bhasin and also the Indian Frontliners with a vote of thanks.
