Companies Charging High Delivery Fees

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is now investigating delivery company costs and their relationship to price increases, according to Al-Anba newspaper. Fahd Al-Shariaan, Minister of Commerce and Industry, has directed the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector to undertake a quick investigation and report on the complaint about the high fees imposed by delivery firms, the impact on customers, and price increases.

In response to a complaint that delivery businesses collect a high proportion of the purchase amount from restaurants that use their websites to promote items, in addition to the KD1 delivery cost, the minister made this action; thus, they take money from both the restaurants and the customers. The complaint emphasised the necessity for government action since it is impossible to exit the market in this circumstance, describing the situation as a type of monopoly that has nothing to do with supply and demand dynamics and has resulted in a significant price increase for customers.
