A contest for study in Russia with scholarship

 
 
The international contest is a special Russian State-sponsored programme for engineering education in Russia.

The Russian Centre of Science and Culture has introduced a contest for engineering students aspiring for higher education. The National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University’s online contest for admission will be open from April 18 to June 30. For details, visit https://iic.tpu.ru/tpu_contest.

Tomsk University, a BRICS network institution, has several programmes and offers 10 scholarships. The traditional contest was held between March 28 and April 3 in Chennai. The university’s rector, Petr Chubik, said getting a participant from BRICS Network University is of big importance, an honour and responsibility.

“We have a lot of developments, educational and research knowhow and a long-term and strong relationship with leading universities in China, India, besides Brazil. Annually, around 500 TPU students are part of the exchange programme,” Mr. Chubik said. The university has over 4,500 international students from 40 countries. The research wing of the university also offers several programmes. The National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University conducts contests for admission to its master’s programme in biomedical science and engineering also.

The first edition of the contest for higher education in Russian universities was held from April 4 to 7 in Chennai and New Delhi. Students participated in a two-stage contest: students had to register online for the contest and the selected candidates, based on their applications, were chosen for scholarships. The international contest is a special Russian State-sponsored programme for engineering education in Russia. The contest is organised by Russian universities with guidance from the following organisations: Rossotrudnichestvo and the Ministry of Science and Education of Russia.

The first edition of the contest, launched in 2013, was held in seven countries, and in 2014, four more countries were added. The scholarship is offered for a five-year specialist degree programme in computer science and information security. There are two scholarships for this programme.

Another specialist degree programme, also a five-year course, comes with five scholarships. A two-year master’s programme in computer science also carries with it two scholarships.

An interesting programme is the two-year PG programme in nuclear power installation operation, which is offered in English language, and there are three scholarships for this programme.

Contest winners can enter the university without entrance tests. The scholarships are being offered by the government and comes with a discount on travel by public transport. The scholarship does not, however, cover flight tickets, medical insurance, personal expenses and housing expenses. Students are eligible for a discounted hostel accommodation within the university, full tuition scholarship and a monthly scholarships of 3,000 - 4,500 roubles (around 44 - 66 U.S. dollars), depending on the academic performance. There are similar scholarships for undergraduate and specialist degree courses too.
