IISM INNER WHEEL – SEMINAR ON ‘PARENTING OVER ACADEMIC SUCCESSES’

India International School is paving its way to reach the children and their childhood through their mothers. Recognizing the vital role of mothers having an edge on parenting skills has lead to the cause of ‘India International School Mangaf Inner Wheel’. It’s the bridge connecting mothers and school.

Strengthening the bridge, the ‘India International School Mangaf Inner Wheel’, on 17 December had a seminar organized on ‘Parenting over academic successes’ by clinical psychologist, Dr. Rumia Justine, Soor Center Kuwait City as guest speaker.

Dr. Rumia spoke of parenting and its various styles, its impact and their lasting memoirs. Learning disabilities and social pressure associated with it were her focus of discussion. Disabilities such as ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory and visual processing disorder and their symptoms whose identification and attention at the earliest were also discussed.

 As remedial measures parents were suggested to avail supporting services from school counselors, special educators, clinical psychologists, therapists, workshops and seminars as this, to name a few.

The interactive session, irrespective of the language barrier had all the queries concerning complexities and hyperactivity clarified. Permissive style was recommended than authoritarian or neglectful parenting for the success of the holistic development of a child.

Vice Principal Mrs. Sapna Raoof welcomed the guests. The School Director Mr. Malayil Moosa Koya presented a memento to Dr. Rumia Justine and a bouquet to her assistant Miss Anwer Al Rifai as a token of appreciation. Vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Sridevi.
