dayTo commemorate the United Nations International Day of Peace, marked every year on September 21, the Indian Community School Kuwait, Junior, presented thought provoking, educative and informative assemblies on 21st and 22nd September, 2015. The day is a global observance when nations, communities, schools and individuals highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace.

On the day, the entire school community was encouraged to wear handmade badges with peace sign. The catchy caption on S.A.V.E. Group dances, in conjunction with the theme, added a serene environment to the special day. Large inspirational slogans adorned the display boards. Participants portrayed the highlights of the day through messages of iconic peace makers like the Dalai Lama, Mr.Banki Moon and Ms. Malala Yousufi. The assembly reached a crescendo with a meaningful rendition of ‘Light a candle for peace’- a scene and song touching the hearts of all present- urging students to carry their message of peace all over the world in times to come.

On the occasion, the Principal and Vice-Principal also honored the meritorious winners of CCA competitions conducted in the month of September.

Addressing a large gathering of students and teachers Principal in-charge Mrs. Sherly Dennis said that Mahatma Gandhi has given the world an unfailing weapon of non-violence. She further added that we as Educators and parents must encourage children to understand the language of nonviolence, appreciate the value of dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution while facing some of the challenges in the modern world.
