Reading Frenzy at India International School

Reading Frenzy at India International School

IIS

India International School has always been an epicenter for literary addiction. In the words of Francis Bacon “Reading Maketh a full man; Conference a Ready Man; Writing an Exact Man.” In an innovative Endeavour to make the children “exact men”, the Kindergarten teachers adopted a sincere goal this year to spread the reading addiction among their students under the banner “One School, Reading Together”. The main aim was to build a literary rich environment in the school and the students. For a teacher, it was the apt time in getting a sceptical student to explore the classroom library.  It was a vital time to encourage a decent reader to read those more challenging books. Teaching the love of reading is different from teaching reading and this was achieved by busting upon the door to reading and walking through it with them. Students were shown that a world without reading was dark - but the one in black and white with reading is brighter than Oz itself. A Graffiti wall was placed where students were asked to scrabble their views, draw or paste anything related to reading and what they liked to read. Each class maintained an attractive, creative, and colourful library. Students wrote stories with the help of their teachers which were beautifully illustrated in form of storybooks and these storybooks were inaugurated by the school Director Mr. MalayilMoosaKoya in the presence of Principal Mr. F.M. Basheer Ahmed and Senior Vice Principal Mrs. NarendarKaur. They congratulated Mrs. Yogeetha Thomas KG Head and Mrs. NilofarQazi Creative Head and their entire team of adroit teachers for their dedicated efforts in creating awareness among the students by creating multiple projects which helped to bring out the literary environment in an otherwise dull landscape. For, as Shakespeare says “Like bright metal on a sullen ground, shall shine more goodly and attract more eyes than that which have no foil to set it off.”
