healthObesity among children remains a major public health concern. Recommended some prompt actions to initiate preventative and interventionist strategies to reverse the trend of this emerging epidemic. This could only be achieved by refraining from frequent snacking, not skipping breakfast, fewer intakes of sugary, beverages and avoiding junk food and opting for healthier “YOU” by taking activities like running, swimming, yoga etc.

Health week was held at IIS from 7th to 11th September 2014 went into full overdrive with students learning the importance of nutrients. In order to educate the importance of health to parents, they were asked by the teachers to pack the children’s Tiffin box with both colorful and nutritious fruits and vegetables and homemade food. The children shared their healthy snacks and information about it with their parents and friends and it also helped the students to analyse their own diet and reflect on the choice they usually make regarding food.

As a part of celebrating health week at IIS, inculcating healthy eating habits amongst our students was our top priority. On this occasion Principal Mr. Basheer Ahmed congratulated K.G.Head Mrs.Yogeetha Thomas, Creative Head Mrs.Nilofar Qazi and their team for their sincere dedication in molding & encouraging the overall development of their students. He also addressed the students and encouraged them to have healthy habits and avoid junk food. The programme was enlightening, empowering, educating and enthusiastic.
