SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES TO MARK GANDHI JAYANATI HELD AT ICSK JUNIOR
October 2nd is a day of dual significance for Indians as it commemorates the birthday of two great nationalist leaders Gandhiji and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. The Indian Community School Kuwait, Junior branch paid a befitting tribute to these great leaders by organizing special assemblies on 22nd Sept and 23rd Sept, 2014 for different classes.
Vibrant speeches on the life history of Gandhiji were the highlight of the assembly. The message of Gandhiji “Be the change you want to be” was delivered effectively for all to reflect and imbibe.
A melodious song was rendered mellifluously by a group of talented singers. Children danced to a patriotic song. They also enacted some incidents from the life of Mahatma Gandhi depicting the simplicity of his life and the principles he upheld. The message conveyed in the assembly was that Gandhiji lives in the hearts of the people. The special celebration rekindled the spirit of nationalism and patriotism in the school campus both among students and teachers.
The students also recalled the contributions of the second Prime Minster of India Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. His selfless service and the unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle were remembered. The significance of his slogan ‘Jai Jawan and Jai Kisan’ was also recounted.
Principal in-charge of ICSK Junior Mrs. Sherly Dennis, in her address, lauded the efforts of the students and teachers in presenting the lives of two great Indian leaders. She also narrated the anecdote about Gandhiji’s three monkeys and advised the students to imbibe the virtues of the 3 monkeys- ‘speak no evil, hear no evil and see no evil’. She further advised thestudents toinfuse and instill more positive energy in their words and deeds and to emulate Gandhian values of Satya and Ahimsa.
On this occasion, certificates of merit were also given out to the winners of various CCA competitions.
