ICSK CONDUCTS IMPRESSIVE WELCOME CEREMONY FOR INDIAN AMBASSADOR
The Indian Community School Kuwait conducted a magnificent ceremony to welcome Indian Ambassador H.E Mr. Sunil Jain and his wife Dr. Gargi Jain to ICSK on 6th May, 2014. It was an incredible evening as a galaxy of dignitaries graced the ICSK Senior Branch auditorium. Remarkable performances by children of the four branches and insightful speeches made it truly memorable occasion for all the guests. The occasion was also special as the school had celebrated its 56th Foundation Day the previous day. The function also coincided with another illustrious milestone in the history of the ICSK as the honorary Secretary Mr. Vijay Karayil declared that the ICSK had received, just a couple of hours back, the permission to be the regional center for National Institute of Open Schooling for the entire Kuwait.
The programme was attended by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Kuwait H.E. Mr. C.A.H.M. Wijeratne, the Ambassador of Bhutan to Kuwait H.E. Mr. Tashi Thungtsog, the Ambassador of the Republic of the union of Myanmar H.E. Mr. U. Aye Khaing, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Nepal Mr. Bishal Bhattarai, the school sponsor H.E. Easa Abdul Rahman Al Easa, Director of Public Administration for private education Mr. Abdallah Al Basri, Manager of Human Resources Mr. Salah Al Ajeel, officials of the Indian Embassy, eminent Indians residing in Kuwait, Honorary Chairman to the Board Mr. Ashok Kalra, Honorary Secretary Mr. Vijay Karayil, Honorary Treasurer Mr. Dinesh Kamath, honorary Joint-Secretary Dr. Kamlesh Kumari, other members of the board of trustees, members of the council of Elders of the ICSK Board, Members of the ex-students association of the ICSK, elected members of the Parent Advisory Council, Principals and Vice-Principals of the four branches, parents, teachers, staff and students of the ICSK.
Honorary Secretary Mr. Vijay Karayil welcomed the august gathering to the occasion. He appreciated each one present there for taking time out to be present there. He also remembered the contribution of the founding fathers as the occasion coincided with the 56th Foundation Day of the school. He also declared the news about ICSK becoming the regional center for National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). In his Presidential address Mr. Ashok Kalra highlighted the transparent functioning of the school Board and thanked the guests for making it a truly memorable evening. He informed the audience about the recent new options of subjects added in the class XI and XII at the ICSK making it the only school in Kuwait to offer such a wide choice of subjects for the students. In his patriarchal address, the School sponsor Easa Abdul Rahman Al Easa nostalgically recalled his association with the Indian Community School. During his speech, Mr. Abdallah Al Basri, Director of Public administration for Private Education also expressed his pleasure at being present at the occasion. Ambassador of India to Kuwait H.E. Mr. Sunil Jain, in his address, expressed his pleasure at being present for the occasion and appreciated the show put up by the children. He recounted his earlier association with Kuwait. He also hoped that he would be able to serve better the peaceful Indian Community in Kuwait.
The colourful performances by the children of all the four branches won everybody’s heart. The impressive welcome song by the group from ICSK Khaitan and the welcome dance by students of ICSK Amman set the stage for the evening. The little boys of ICSK Junior, dancing in traditional local attire, were a sight to behold. The traditional dance by the students of ICSK Senior, the performance of group from ICSK Khaitan and then a cultural journey by ICSK Amman enthralled the audience. The little ones of ICSK Junior once again took to the stage and enthralled the audience with a heart-rending performance on the famous number ‘Azeem-o-Shah-Shahenshah’.
H.E. Mr. Sunil Jain was presented with a token of love and affection by the school board. The highly entertaining show concluded with dinner after heartfelt vote of thanks was presented by Principal ICSK Khaitan Mr. K. G. Shirsath.
