FUN-PACKED 11th MEGA CARNIVAL AT ICSK
A warm sunny day in January, lots of fun activities for the entire family, choice of delectable cuisine from the best restaurants, rounds of Bingo with exciting prizes, thrill of on-the-spot prizes, bargains on wares and a variety of other activities provided the right combination for a highly successful 11th Mega Carnival hosted by the Indian Community School Kuwait. The Mega carnival, held on 31st January, 2014 this year at the ICSK Senior, Salmiya premises is the most-eagerly awaited event among Indians. The huge crowds spoke volumes about the popularity of the event as all roads seemed to lead to ICSK.
The carnival kicked off to a colorful start with a grand inauguration ceremony. Mr. S. K. Wadhawan, Chairman of the Samara Group and also the Chairman of the Indian Business Council Kuwait was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Mr. Jacob Thomas, well-known journalist and Malayala Manorama Editorial Director Thomas Jacob was the guest of honour. Honorary Chairman to the Board of trustees Mr. Ashok Kalra, Honorary Vice-chairman Mr. Rajan Daniel, Honorary Secretary Mr. Vijay Karayil, Honorary treasurer Mr. Dinesh Kamath, other esteemed members of the Board of trustees, the parent representatives to the Board, elected members of the Parent Advisory Council, invited eminent Indians in Kuwait, parents and other guests bestowed their gracious presence on the occasion. The 11th Mega Carnival Souvenir was also released by Mr. Jacob Thomas and presented to the carnival convener Mr. A V Shamsudheen, the nominated parent representative to the board of trustees.
The highly impressive cultural performance by the students coupled with professional troupe performing the traditional Shingari Melum captivated the hearts of all. The grand entry of the carnival mascot, a beautifully crafted life-like model of an elephant, awed the onlookers. The exuberance continued throughout the day as all the four branches had highly entertaining performances lined up. The Masters of Ceremonies for the day Ms Reyana Mahesh and Mr. Fayaz Sheikh kept the crowds enthralled with their power-packed energetic voices and a variety of fun and games for all age-groups. The visitors thronged the stalls and the center-stage was also charged-up with excitement. The crowd went in a rhapsody as the Kuwaiti-singer Mubarak took the stage and sang some all-time hit Hindi songs.
The day drew to a close with the mega Raffle Draw and the announcement of 60 lucky winners.
The ICSK Mega Carnival is one of the largest of its kind that is driven by the noble purpose of creating a "School Welfare Fund" to meet the educational needs of the less-privileged students. The success of the Mega Carnival, an event of unparalleled scale and grandeur, is commendable. The management and staff of the Indian Community School, Kuwait, extend sincere gratitude to all the esteemed sponsors, the Indian community in Kuwait, the participants and the parents who contributed to make the event a huge success.
