SIMS celebrates Indian Republic Day with Pomp and Gaiety
Freedom in mind, faith in words, pride in heart, memories in souls - that is the definition of the day 24th January 2014, for the students and staff of Salmiya Indian Model School (SIMS), Kuwait as it celebrated the 65th Indian Republic Day in pomp and gaiety. The great event was inaugurated by the first citizen of India in Kuwait - His Excellency Mr.Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, who, in his comment, included the following words - "A most fascinating exhibition on India, displaying all its variety, richness and colour."
The grand carnival had changed the whole school campus into a mini India with exhibition of art, artefacts, important places, food stalls representing the food for each state, a mini shopping zone called the Meena Bazaar followed by a cultural fiesta in the evening. The most fascinating part was that the event was open to the whole of Kuwait and from the beginning there was an outpouring of guests which numbered almost to 3000 on a rough account.

The cultural programmes scheduled in the evening imprinted the name SIMS in the history of Kuwait because of the variety of art forms of India which were presented on stage. The participation of the students as well as the parents was overwhelming as the parents who belonged to the Arab community worked enthusiastically with those of the Indian Community to represent India. No states or no art forms were left untouched. The choir group of SIMS which performed Vande Maataram in front of H.E Mr. Sunil Jain, bagged special appreciation from His Excellency and were invited to perform the same on the day of Republic Day Reception held for the diplomats and ambassadors of many countries by the Indian Embassy at Crowne Plaza.
Finally, by the end of the day the visitors who attended the show went away with a mind inspired from the vibrant colours of India and a heart full of love poured on them by all the members of SIMS family.
