Farmers express fears - ‘Possibility of frost’
KUWAIT: Farmers have expressed fear over the possibility of frost in their farms due to the expected low temperature in the next few days, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources.

Sources said some of the farmers experienced frost last year when most of the crops were destroyed, causing huge losses to the farmers who then demanded for compensation from the government.

Meanwhile, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Shakir Ewad confirmed several teams had been formed to follow up the case, monitor damages in the Abdali and Wafra farms if frost covers the crops, and report everything to the Kuwait Municipality Board of Directors that will study the condition of each farm to determine the appropriate compensation.

Ewad said the authority does not allocate a special budget for the occurrence of frost in the country since it is related to nature; hence, the situation differs every year in terms of damages to crops.
