7,545 citations issued, 563 vehicles impounded
KUWAIT: The General Traffic Department (GTD) carried out surprise inspection campaigns throughout the country over the weekend, leading to the issuance of 7,545 traffic citations, as well as the impounding of 563 vehicles, 10 buggies and two motorbikes.

In a press statement Saturday, the department disclosed the traffic officers conducted the campaigns in compliance with the instructions of Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Mustafa Al-Za’abi. The officers issued 1,346 citations and seized 108 vehicles in the Capital Governorate; while those assigned in Farwaniya registered 972 violations and impounded 30 vehicles.

In Hawally, 1,923 citations were issued and two vehicles were confiscated; 60 citations in Ahmadi; 60 citations and one vehicle in Mubarak Al-Kabeer; and 495 citations and 13 vehicles in Jahra.

On the other hand, the General Operations Unit issued 1,924 citations and confiscated 172 vehicles and 10 buggies. The officers also registered 213 violations and seized two vehicles in Kuwait International Airport.
