British hospitals' long-standing financial claims are settled by the Health Ministry

The Ministry of Health announced a major breakthrough in the overseas treatment file, confirming the removal of a clause that had been raised for years by the British side regarding accumulated financial claims from UK hospitals.

The ministry described the step as a “qualitative achievement” that closes one of the most complex and longstanding issues in its international medical dealings.

In a press statement, the ministry attributed the accomplishment to the direct guidance and close follow-up of Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, REPORTS Al-Rai daily.

According to the statement, the resolution was reached following Kuwait’s effective participation in the meetings of the Kuwaiti-British Joint Steering Group, represented by Dr. Hisham Kalender.

High-level coordination between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs played a decisive role in finalizing the agreement.

The ministry also highlighted the efforts of the Health Office in London, overseen by Dr. Tariq Al-Kandari and a specialized team that worked to tighten and streamline financial procedures.

Their work contributed significantly to settling the accumulated claims and closing the file after years of ongoing discussions.

This development marks a significant step in strengthening Kuwait’s overseas medical treatment system and improving financial governance within its international healthcare partnerships.
