As part of its commitment to economic diversification and food security, Kuwait has commenced work on a pioneering salmon farming project within its development plan. This initiative, spearheaded by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, aims to bolster the local fish farming industry while addressing increasing demand for marine products.

The salmon farming project is designed to establish a research unit dedicated to farming salmon, sea bass, and Shem. Additionally, it will explore innovative techniques for cultivating other economically valuable marine species, such as sea cucumber and coral. With a projected capacity of producing up to one million small fish, the initiative represents a significant leap toward enhancing Kuwait's aquaculture capabilities.
