The Consumer Price Index Rise By 4.52 Percent In May 2022

 
 

 

According to a report released on Tuesday by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB), Kuwait's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 4.52 percent on an annual basis in May 2022 compared to the same month in 2021. The CPI grew monthly to 124.8 by 0.16 percent, the CSB revealed in a statement to KUNA, due to high prices of significant groupings in the movement of the indices.

According to the statement's yearly price movement for May 2022, food and beverages had a rise of 8.23% from May 2021's figures. Additionally, it stated that Tobacco and Cigarettes scored 135.0 points unchanged.

While the cost of housing services climbed by 2.26 percent, the cost of clothing and footwear increased by 6.37 percent. The CSB showed that Health climbed by 1.78 percent while Furnishing and Equipment Household Maintenance increased by 2.27 percent. The CSB reported increases in transportation (4.90%), communication (2.29%), leisure and culture (3.88%), and education (18.95%). Restaurants and hotels had an increase of 2.77 percent; while services and other items saw a 3.21 percent increase. (KUNA)
