Cooperative societies replaced 6800 checkout baggers with Kuwaiti volunteers



In yet another preventive move to contain the spread of coronavirus the Union of Consumer Cooperative societies has assigned Kuwaiti volunteers to undertake the task of bagging groceries at the cash counters.An estimated 6800 workers stand to be affected in almost 68 cooperative societies all over the country with most of them from Bangladesh and India. The directive is part of the ministry of health’s measure to combat the coronavirus spread so that the number of people interacting will be drastically reduced.The Ministry of Trade and Industry will supervise this directive and ensure that no violations are recorded and that shoppers should try to help themselves as far as possible and with the help of volunteers.
