IMWA Kuwait Holds Its 30th Annual General Body Meeting

WhatsApp Image 2025 08 03 at 3.57.46 PM 11zonThe Indian Muslim Welfare Association (IMWA), Kuwait, held its 30th Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) on Friday, 18th July 2025, at Rajdhani Palace Restaurant, Khaitan, in the presence of office bearers, executive council members, and general members.

The meeting began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Mr. Mohammed Kaleem Ansari, followed by a Presidential Address by Mr. Syed Hanif Ahmad, reflecting on IMWA’s three-decade journey of service and community development. During his speech, he highlighted the successes of the association under his presidency. Notable among those events was the highest attendance of students for Quran Competition from different Indian schools in Kuwait, which is a record in the association's history. Yet another feather in the cap of IMWA was the introduction of a Family Counselling event held at the Indian Community School in Khaitan. The President stated that IMWA intends to continue this family counselling event on annual basis. The formation of the Ladies Wing and Youth Wing has helped the association discover hidden talent among its ladies and youth members, who assist the executive members in organizing the association's annual mega events. He further stated that IMWA is now a registered association with the Ministry of Awqaf.  He concluded his speech by saying, “IMWA has come a long way, and yet, our journey is only the beginning. IMWA is not just an organization; it is a family bound by faith, service, and a commitment to upliftment of our Indian community living in Kuwait, let us continue to be proactive, work hand in hand, with sincerity and passion, to build a better, stronger, and more united Ummah here in Kuwait”.

Vice President Mr. Muzammil Malik delivered an encouraging message that was well received, he praised the performance of the executive committee members for their hard work in organizing various events, held successfully, he thanked the gathering and wished more progress and developments to happen for the benefit of its members and community at large.

General Secretary Mr. Firdaus Allam Khan presented the minutes of the 29th AGBM (held on 30 August 2024), which were unanimously approved. He then presented the Annual Report for 2024–25, outlining key highlights: successful programs and events, outreach initiatives, membership engagement, partnerships, and the challenges managed during the year.

The Treasurer, Mohammed Asif, presented the audited financial statement for the period January 2024 to December 2024. Key figures included opening balance, total receipts, total expenditure, and closing balance. The financial statement was approved by the members after discussion and clarification. He said he was pleased to inform that membership increased by a significant percentage during the past year. He expressed his gratitude to IMWA patrons and well-wishers for their contribution to the welfare of the association.

The AGM also included a by-election to fill three Executive Council vacancies created by resignations on health and personal grounds. In accordance with IMWA bylaws, IMWA EC unanimously elected and approved by the members:

                Mr. Asim Kidwai

They were warmly welcomed into the Executive Council.

The meeting saw active participation from members, including Mr. Jawed Anwar, Mr. Irfan Mohammad Khan, Mr. Kareem Irfan (FIMA President), and others, who proposed and suggested ideas for IMWA’s progressive future.

The evening ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Israr Ahmed and a Dua for the community’s well-being, followed by dinner and informal fellowship.
