DR SUMAYAA PAR EXCELLENCE
-THE BEST SOCIAL WORKER AWARD FOR WOMEN’S WELFARE

Dr. Sumayaa a dynamic personality has been the Principal of Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women (Autonomous) Kilakarai for the past 25 years. This College is well known for its Discipline and control. Besides being a competent academician she being a Programme Officer of the Seethakathi NGO has involved herself in social welfare activities.
With an objective to improve the economic standard of women in general and Muslim women in particular, she did her level best to collect Donation in Ramanathapuram District to improve the educational social and economic standard of 840 Muslim Women, a sum of Rs.18,41,000 as scholarships and financial assistance for livelihood activities, widows assistance was distributed through Muslim Women Aid Society of Ramanathapuram District. In addition, for the rehabilitation of women she has made arrangements for vocational training programmes for income generation.
On par with her optimistic objectives, through the self help groups, she endeavoured to the greatest possible degree to create awareness among men (particularly the spouses of SHG members) about drunkedness and its consequences.
Because of her tireless efforts many broken families have been reunited. To generate income by the members of SHG Vocational training such as Entrepreneurship Training and Training for the production of Marine Organisms were initiated by Dr. Sumayaa.
She has been creating awareness among the public through SHG about Family Planning, Eye Donation, Blood Donation and AIDS Awareness. She was monitoring the Emergency Tsunami Reconstruction Project [ETRP] and Rajiv Gandhi Rehabilitation Project [RGRP] programme in Ramnad district since 2007-2008.
The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, New Delhi offered her a Chair in the Committee on Girls’ Education during the years 2007-2009 and 2010-2013 by which she lent her significant contributions all over India.
In recognition of her continuous yeoman service towards the welfare and wellbeing of women she was honoured with “THE BEST SOCIAL WORKER AWARD FOR WOMEN’S WELFARE” by the Government of Tamilnadu. Honorouble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Selvi Dr. J. Jeyalalitha gave away this award on 15-08-2012 in the 66th Independence Day Celebrations at Fort St. George Chennai
